 History Of The Fort
Nahargarh Fort was constructed in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, originator of Jaipur, on the Aravalli hills, as a withdrawal location. Nahargarh Fort is attached to the Jaigarh Fort through its rampart. It is trusted that the architecture of this fort was blocked by the soul of a Rathore prince, Nahar Singh Bhomia. However, the soul was calm when a temple committed to him was constructed inside the fort. Sawai Ram Singh restore this fort in 1868.

A horror tale about the Nahargarh Fort is that the soul of a prince Nahar Singh Bhomia walks around the palace and blocks the building work, so whatever was constructed during the day used to sink at night. King Sawai Jai Singh trusted that the restive soul of the prince did not allow the building work to be done. Thus, based on the advice of a fortuneteller and pastor, Sawai Jai Singh decided to construct a temple devotee to the price. Also, the king calls the fort in the prince’s name to tribute to him. Later, the building work of the fort went on calmly.
Architectural Layout Of The Fort
Earlier, Nahargarh fort, along with Jaigarh Fort and Amer Fort, devise a strong three-point protection plan around the city. Situated on Cheel ka Teela or Hill of Eagles, the fort presents a good example of Indo-European construction. With splendid gates, large courtyards, and towers, the fort represents the impact of the Rajputana kingdom. The fort houses nine similar suits built for each of the nine queens of Sawai Madho Singh. All these suits are attached to each other by corridors and have a kitchen, lobby, bedroom, and other vital sections. The suites are fabulously decorated with Rajput Mughal paintings showing the lifestyle and culture of Rajputs. The title of this outfit are Chand Parkash, Jawahar Parkash, Suraj Parkash, Ratan Parkash, Laxmi Parkash, Vasant Parkash, and Lalit Parkash, etc.

The fort also covers a couple of temples devoted to the rulers of Jaipur and prince Nahar Singh Bhomia. Nahargarh Fort was never charged but, it observe some major ancient events, like the agreement with the Maratha forces which charge Jaipur in the 18th century. This fort gave protection to many Europeans in this region, counting the British Resident’s wife, during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857.
